The most anticipated holiday --- Christmas is finally here! It would be unrealistic for Californian to hope for a white Christmas, but we can still enjoy the holiday spirit due to those wonderful Christmas lightning and amazing holiday decorations at every corner.
The tradition to celebrate Christmas was originated from Northern Europe. As time passed by, people from different countries around the world would adopt Christmas in their own unique way. In the U.K., the dinner table is decorated with a Christmas cracker for each person. When the crackers are pulled, a colorful party hat, a toy or a gift and a festival joke would fall out. In Poland, Christmas Eve is the first day of Christmas dinner, and the grand feast starts when the first star in the sky appears. In Hawaii, the portrait of Santa Claus wears flip flops and classic Hawaiian shirt since Hawaiian Christmas is in the summer. Slavic people from Eastern Europe believe that De Moroz (Slavic Santa Claus) and his granddaughter Snegurochka would travel around with the magical Russian troika and bring gifts to all the kids.
The tradition and folk lore of Christmas are various among different cultures; however, they always come in a common theme: the reunion with friends and families and be thankful for all the wonderful things we have in our lives.
